About U2U
We work alongside people we have relationship with who are redeveloping devasted communities, currently we are building, with friends and friends of friends a hospital on the island of La Gonave, Haiti. A 1940′s Weslyan Hospital which is completely unequipped and inadequate for an island of 160,000 desperate people. For most, adequate care is 2-9 hours walk and many do not make it.
Children are dying unnecessarlity. Women in childbirth are dying unnecessarily. Men and Women our age are dying unnecessarily. We are currently rebuilding the guest house on the island which hosts our international labour (volunteers) visiting medical staff etc.
Phase II is to build a 140 bed hospital fully equipped and functioning, Phase III is to rebuild the current, devasted hospital, due to the earthquake into a teaching hospital so that we can have medical teams based all over the island. There is a future, we can make a difference – it takes a village – you are part of our village – will you help us reach our goal? We are all registered 501c3 charities and all bi-vocational; 100% off all ‘donations’ go into our projects – which means we pay our own way when we go to Haiti and have no administration overheads – it’s a bunch of friends with a vision and passion to make a difference. 100% of all profit goes to our projects. Other projects we are involved in in Haiti are rebuilding an orphanage of 72 children in Okipe and another newly opened supplying school equipment to micro-schools and Compassion Schools.
We send our first container 11/11.
We collect AYSO and club soccer uniforms and send them to children and orphans all over the world – we have sent 1,000s in the last 5 years to Tanzania, Kenya, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Somaliland, Haiti, Mexico and Sierra Leone.
